The fourth edition of the poetry market Poetik Bazar kicks off with a festive multilingual opening night. The MC of this Opening Night is Alex Deforce. He will be joined by musician Orphan Fairytale to guide the evening smoothly.

Anna Ayanoglou c DR

Anna Ayanoglou

Anna Ayanoglou, born in 1985, is the author of Le Fil des traversées and Sensations du combat (Gallimard). Her first collection won the Prix Apollinaire Découverte and the Prix Révélation Poésie from SGDL. In 2024, she will publish Appartenir with Castor Astral, a coming-of-age story centered on memories of Greece.

Shannon Sullivan

Shannon Sullivan is known for her percussive, interdisciplinary poetic performances. Nominated for Versopolis in 2022, her recent project THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN F.&.F., with Ali Hasan and Simon Schmidt, will be released as an album in spring 2024.

Gonca Özmen

Gonca Özmen (1982, Turkey) is a renowned Turkish poet known for her playful and critical poems on love and human relationships. Noticed young in Varlık, she published works like Kuytumda and Belki Sessiz, gaining international recognition.

JJ Bola

JJ Bola is a writer, poet, and educator born in Kinshasa and raised in London. His debut novel No Place to Call Home (2017) was translated into French as Nulle Part Où Poser Sa Tête in 2022. He also wrote Mask Off: Masculinity Redefined (2019) and three poetry collections, compiled in Refuge (2018), which is soon to be published in French. JJ Bola is also a UNHCR ambassador and works as a mental health social worker.

Mustafa Kör

Mustafa Kör is an author and poet born in Konya, Turkey, in 1976. After a serious car accident in 1998 left him wheelchair-bound, he began a promising writing career. His debut novel De Lammeren (2007) and poetry collection Ben jij liefde (2016) received several awards and nominations. In 2022, he was named Poet Laureate of Belgium and is also the patron of Het Lezerscollectief, an organization focused on shared reading experiences.

Nil Görkem

Nil Görkem's interest in Turkish folk dances began in the early '90s, studying with masters like Cengiz Senkule and performing with various groups in Turkey. In Belgium, she expanded her artistic horizons with dance and percussion lessons in various styles, eventually earning a certificate in contemporary dance from Art-T school.

Orphan Fairytale

Eva Titania has been wayfaring as Orphan Fairytale for the past 15years and counting. With her electronic psychedelia that deftly teeters between the bubbly and the eerie, Van Deuren is a prolific presence in our spheres and her music is a constant which irrefutably touches and enchants all those who encounter it. Over the past few years she has integrated the Celtic harp into her repertoire, crafting new sounds that seamlessly meld into the narrative of her unique sonic trajectory.
Alex Deforce DR

Alex Deforce

In early 2019, Alex Deforce (b. 1984) took his first poetic steps with Victor De Roo's Nachtdichter on Amsterdam's Knekelhuis label. More recently, he contributed poetic interludes to Brihang's Casco album, reciting poems by Georges Perec. His debut solo 7-inch vinyl was released in 2020 on Brussels Lexi Disques, featuring poetry set to music by Charlotte Jacobs and Wiet Lengeler. In 2022, he founded Les Editions Deforce, a small publishing house with releases from collaborations with Victor De Roo, Paulo Rietjens, and Azertyklavierwerke.
